How Countertop Selection and Installation Works

When it comes to purchasing a new countertop, at AMC Granite & Cabinetry, LLC we know it can be a bit overwhelming given all of the details involved.

To help you get started, we’ve broken down the process step-by-step for you.

Let's Start With Measurements and a Free Estimate

In order to get a free estimate from our team, please measure the length, width, and depth of the countertops you need to replace. In addition, a rough layout of your kitchen will be helpful in providing an estimate. With a drawing and measurements, including the sink location, cook-top dimensions, and backsplash, we can offer you the most accurate estimate possible.

Keep in mind that this price will be subject to change after template, depending on your final measurements and material selections.

Submit your measurements and get a free estimate by filling out our online form.

Schedule and Prepare for Your Template Date

Once you have made your final decisions on the details of the estimate, we can schedule a template date. The template is an exact fit for your custom countertops. We will need to come to your home to create the template.

After we create your templates, we can begin the fabrication process. It is important to have all the final details in place before the template.

Checklist for homeowners before template day:
  • Countertops must be cleared
  • Sink and faucet must be on site
  • Have cooktop and downdraft or stove on site
  • Cabinets must be completely set in place and level
  • Old countertops don't have to be removed in most cases

Ensuring You See as Few Countertop Seams as Possible

At AMC Granite and Cabinetry, it is our philosophy to have as few seams as possible and to consider the placement of seams. We will do our best to accommodate the customer's wishes if possible.

Factors that advise seam location:
  • Size of countertops
  • Layout of the project
  • Consideration for weight, handling, and location logistics of moving pieces into your home (entrance, stairs, elevator, etc.)

Request Our Countertop Removal Services

AMC Granite & Cabinetry can remove your old countertops and dispose of them for an additional cost. Please ask us to include this in your quotation if you are interested.

If we are removing your existing countertops, you will need to have the cooktop disconnected prior to our arrival. Although rare, unforeseen conditions can appear as a tear-out is completed. We will be sure to notify you immediately if any of these situations are discovered.

We will not tear out, remove, or dispose of any tile backsplash, appliances or cabinets, nor will we disconnect your gas.

If you have existing countertops and have not paid AMC Granite & Cabinetry for removal services, please be sure to have all work completed prior to our arrival for installation.

Countertop Installation Takes Very Little Time

Countertop installation day takes place 3-4 days after we template your tops. The installation typically takes roughly 2-4 hours.
  • We are not responsible for any gas, plumbing or electrical work required to complete the installation of your new countertops.
  • Schedule your plumber's appointment for the day after your countertop installation in order to allow the adhesives to set.
  • Our service does not include repair or replacement of moldings and trim that are affected by the removal or installation of the new countertops.
